“Eh di mabuti! Kumusta naman? Anong nangyari sa mga date n‘yo?” tanong ko sa kanya.
“Yun nga ang problema eh. Super great catch siya. Pasok sa criteria ko kaso wala talaga eh.”
“Anong wala?”
“Walang spark! Walang magic!”
Sabi ko sa kanya, “Magic pala ang hinahap mo eh, sana nagpunta ka sa children’s party baka sakaling may magician dun!”
This scenario happens not just to my friend but to many singles today.
Have you ever refused dating someone because of the same reason — “Walang spark”? If yes, then let me give you this piece of advice.
Huwag puro spark lang ang hinahanap mo, i-consider mo rin ang buong pagkatao ng dine- date mo. Dahil kung spark din lang ang hanap mo, bigyan kita ng live wire, pakasalan mo!
Spark. Kilig factor. Butterflies in your stomach.
Such a wonderful feeling!
Ang saya nga naman kapag naranasan mo ‘yan.
Tuwing kasama mo siya, parang tumitigil ang oras at lumulutang ka sa ulap kahit na ang totoo ay magkatabi lang naman kayo sa nakatigil na jeep sa gitna ng trapik habang lumulutang sa usok.
Masaya nga naman talaga kapag may “spark” at “chemistry.” Tulad na lang ng chemistry ng #AlDub, #JaDine, #KathNiel. But frankly speaking, wala akong pakialam kahit na talo n‘yo pa ang sweetness level ng mga love team sa TV. Dahil kung palpak naman ang pagkatao ninyong dalawa, you still won’t have a good relationship, especially a great marriage.
I believe that more important than chemistry is character. Bumilang ka lang ng ilang buwan, wala na iyang spark na iyan. Kaya nga spark eh. Sandali lang. But unlike chemistry and spark, character lasts a lifetime. And marriage is not a one-time, big-time thing. It should last until death do you part.
Kaya nga tama ang sabi ni Lola Nidora, “Pwede gamitin ang puso, pero ‘wag kalimutan ang utak.” Chemistry can hastily be felt by a blinded heart, but only an enlightened mind can know great character.
And the only way to know great character is if you are open to know the other person beyond your feelings. Get to know your potential partner objectively, with or without “spark.”
